'Simpsons' vet sells script to Fox
"The Simpsons" writer-producer Matt Warburton has sold a comedy script to Fox via 20th Century Fox Television and Chernin Entertainment. Untitled project concerns a recent Los Angeles transplant, just on the verge of being "cool" for the first time in his life, who is bummed and mildly amused when his retired, conservative Midwestern parents move in down the street. Warburton will write and also executive produce along with Peter Chernin and Katherine Pope. Into its second year of a pod deal at 20th TV, Chernin Entertainment is having a busy development season. The former News Corp. chief has as many as seven scripts currently in development, with five alone at Fox including projects with Demetri Martin, Stephen Gaghan and Jim Uhls. Warburton is repped by WME. Contact Andrew Wallenstein at andrew.wallenstein@variety.comWatch The Hangover 2 Movie
